    Default A Merry Christmas

    In Christmas Day i n 1944 in Changi i Jail Was one day the Japs let us off no working parties and we got a bit of extra rice and we had carol singing but to some of the guys they broke down and cried some thought they would never get to have a xmas at home .It was a sad day for some of them

    Lou, you saw the worst of it along with two of my Aussie mates, Bill Flowers and John Parkes. Thanks be that you all survived to live happy family lives. Over twenty years I enjoyed the best of it but for you and those like you that would not been. During the sixties seventies and eighties it was still fresh in the minds of those old Singapore/Malayan hands that went back to work when it was all over.

    You are here to remind us what it was like Lou, people forget to easily, it may have been nearly 70 years ago but the young people today should never think it wont happen again. Look after yourself and have a great time with your family this Xmas.

    Lou for most of us i doubt if we could even begin to imagine how you and the others felt, but thankfully you survived to enjoy many more and I hope this year is a very good one for you and yours.

    Thank you all .The thing that will be missing this Christmas wil be not having my late wife wih me and the family .It would have been 65 years married last Novemberbut it was not to be but life as to go on
