HISTORIAN. IMO 6817687. Cargo ship (refrig). Built 1968 by Doxford & Sunderland Shipbuilders at their Pallion Yard. 8,454 gt, diesel 18 knots. Judging by the speed, probably fitted with the then new J Type Doxford engine. Speed and tonnage greatly increased but life greatly reduced in comparison with the "golden oldies". History: 1968, fitted with a 150-ton 'Stülcken' derrick. Built for Charente SS Co Ltd. 1981, renamed CHERRY ORIENT, Bunga Sg Co Pte Ltd. 1985, broken up, (less than 20 years old!!).



MAGICIAN. IMO 6812326. A refrigerated cargo ship. Diesel (J engine 6 cyl) speed of 18 knots - 8,453 GT - Fitted with a 150-ton Stülcken derrick. Built for Charente Steam-Ship Company Ltd., manager Thos. & Jas. Harrison Ltd., known as 'Harrison Line'. Acquired & designed specifically for the Africa trade. The vessel was also sold in late 1980, or maybe in early 1981, to 'Bunga Shipping Co. Pte. Ltd.', of Singapore, & renamed Cherry Crystal. The vessel visited Bhavnagar, Kaohsiung & Dubai. Dates are here. On Jun. 19, 1985, the vessel arrived at Alang, Gujarat, India, to be broken up.
