When I worked for the Sydney Water Board we used to fill tankers with effluent which was poured over a golf course in the Blue Mountains, also on some farmers fields. Don't know if the golfers where calling out Fore or Core, but they had lovely turf.

Don't know about that but we stopped delivering to the golf course after about twelve months to many complaints from the locals, but the cows on the farm didn't mind.

In Japan a few years ago, spotless all over now, flush from the toilet something to look forward to as well.
But pig and cow along with sheep and chook excrement is in common use by farmers today.
I put horse manure on my veg patch.
Did at one time put it on my rhubarb but found cream ti be a better taste.
An old boot a foot below the rhubarb was considered a marvel by the old wives when I was a boy. Maybe the distance of a foot was relative to the old boot and was from Merlin’s Recipe Book. ? JS
They do that here on the fields, as recently as last week, they seem to wait until its a nice warm sunny day. The smell can choke you.Quote:

Years ago in many parts of Melbourne there were no flush dunnies, many were on a septic tank.
You knew when they were being flushed out by the tanker suctions, you could ride a bike down the smell it was so bad.
Playing golf in Spain many years ago, I spotted a sign on the first tee, It said, Players are advised not to like there balls.
The reason was that the sewage system from near by Urbinizations was channelled to a treatment works at the course and used for irragation purposes.
Hence do not like your balls :rolleyes:
