Women and ships in the Spanish Civil War
I am looking at merchant shipping in the Spanish Civil War and I have become aware that women were sometimes in those ships.
I would welcome any information on the subject but I am especially interested in the Seven Seas Spray in April 1937. She broke a Nationalist blockade and sailed into Bilbao and while the presence of the master's daughter, Florence 'Fifi' Roberts is well known there was also the wife of the ship's Chief Engineer. Can anyone provide me with the full names of those two people and data on their later lives?

Such is the standard of journalistic research today that they can't even get the ship name correct-they call her Seven Sea Spray. As a proofreader it jumped straight off the page at me....Tut !

As you can see by the attached photo, she was called the Seven Seas Spray as indicated on her stern.

Deepsea-Yes.That is what I have already said! I said the journo who wrote it didn't give it the correct name. I know it was the SEVEN SEAS SPRAY .Please read my posts -carefully-again.
