Just a little trivia regarding Titanic Vern, If you ask most seaman which of her two masts where bigger most would say the after mast...…….. In fact both where exactly the same height 70 foot off the deck. Terry

By the way Terry did you ever go into the mission and see the model of the Titanic similar to yours.????Anyway an old chap came into the mish the other week and claimed the model belonged to him,he said he gave it to his grandson or nephew cant' remember which and he was not to happy that they had given it away to the Mission,he offered £50.00 donation for its return to him.Im sure the mission told him if it was his property he could have it back without any donation.I dont' know what the outcome was but the model has been gone for quite a few weeks now.
    Regards.

Thanks Doc for the video link, not sure if the actual footage is that accurate though, okay film quality may have deteriorated over time but looking at her the funnels are not painted yet in White Star colours, I suspect she was moving either to or from the fitting out berth!!! Also Captain Smith in Tropical uniform, in UK waters in early April!!! Regardless enjoyable footage.

Jim if the bloke gave the model away and then no doubt the Family member decided to donate it to the mission, why did the owner just not leave it to the mission were it would have been safe and could have been enjoyed by others!!!! under the understanding that if the mission no longer wanted it was to be returned to him.

Thankfully they had sense enough to place it high enough so it would be difficult to pinch.
