Anyone about from the fifties

Maybe her nephew was jealous. Now that would be something to smirk about during the voyage.

Ken Hitchcock. R540166.
I was a 'Vindi' boy late 1950. Joined my first ship - 'Pipiriki' Jan. 51.- two trips. then the 'Gloucester' three trips,
next 'Hororata' one trip and finally 'Hurunui', two trips, all ships were N.Z.S.Co. Paid off, to take on a 'run job' to N.Z. for Northern Steamship Company of Auckland. the ship being the 'Maunganui'. Love and marriage was the reason for the trip. On arrival, had a letter which read "Dear John......"

Anyone about from the 50's
Hi.Terry
as you can see there are a few of us left from the 50's. I think that was the best decade for us. I went from Sea School in '49 till 1958 mostly with the P&O. Never sailed on the Chusan but met a few who had.
Welcome to the site, you can while away many an hour trawling through it.
Cheers
Pete

Anybody about from the fifties
Went to sea '53 on Irish Sea Colliers as deck boy. B****y dirty business!
Stuck it for a few years and decided to head off up the ladder.
I'm still going strong ('ish )
