my first trip
My first trip after leaving the "Vindicatrix, was in November 1968 on the Westwood owned by Constantine's of Middlesbrough, i joined up with her at berth in Gateshead she was an old coal burner, we sailed down to Purfleet in Essex to load Pioneer cement. I was given a berth to myself in the bows, unbeknown to me the big tube next to my head housed the anchor chain that was until we dropped anchor early morning at the mouth of the Thames.
