Just saying Hello as a new member.

Grew up reading the names of ships sailing into and out of Liverpool, in the Liverpool Echo, going to far away distant places, with strange sounding names (1970s).

Lucky enough to have sailed with United Arab Shipping from 1979 to 1985 (junior engineer), and finally visit some of those places, with fond memories.

Once a seafarer, it always remains in your blood, and grateful to have found this site.

Look forward to reading posts, now have time in retirement.

#1 you were lucky to have sailed in the 1970s on foreign vessels. If had been in the 60’s and you had discharges in your book you would have had to undergo a third degree how they got there. I never would have one put in my book for that reason. Cheers JS
