Hello
Thank you for accepting me. My interest lies in WW2. One of my Step Uncles was killed in 1943 on HMS Royal Scotsman, and was awarded the DSC. my other step-uncle served in the merchant Navy.
Lt Robert Carnochan DSC RNR HMS Royal Scotsman. The other was Chief Officer P F Carnochan, no idea what ship he was on.
Robert Carnochan must have been well liked the Officers and Crew had a plaque made for him in Glasgow. .

He has some cards in the Fourth Register of Seamen which I have transcribed for you below. The list below will probably not represent a contiguous list of his service as the cards are known to contain omissions.

Re: Hello
Simon,
I am looking at all the names on my local war memorial in Bearsden including Robert Carnochan - on his marriage certificate in 1939 he gives his address as New Kirk Square in Bearsden and CWGC says his wife lived here at the time he died. Hugh's incredibly helpful message gives details of his merchant navy career but I wondered if you had followed up on the report of his death?
Best wishes, Andrew Walker
