Thanks for accepting me , my grandfather John William Taaffe was a seafaring man ( and boy ) , he joined the Royal Navy in 1905 aged 15 , was invalided out in 1912 and joined the Merchant Service for many years , mainly I think on routes to New Zealand and returns . I am interested in researching which ships he was on , I only know 1 at present , SS Paparoa in 1915 , am looking forward to the quest

He has a CR 10 card held in the Fourth Register of Seamen - attached.
Prior to serving aboard PAPAROA, he served aboard SOMERSET. In December 1918, he was aboard RUAHINE official number 124582.
