Steve Blackmore - Shell Tankers
Hi All
I'm writing on here to see if anyone remembers my brother Steve Blackmore who spent almost all his working life with Shell from about 1970 to about 2005/6.
Steve passed away suddenly at his home last week, he wasn't a great socialiser outside of his work, he always talked fondly of his time at sea, I thought I might reach some old shipmates this way and maybe even collect a few memories to share at the funeral.
I remember seeing pictures of H class boats early on when he started as 5th engineer, he did his steam tickets at Leith, eventually did motor ticket and did a few trips on stonecrushers as he called them, he did some shore trips to boats in Mitsubishi yard in Japan when they did the gas tank refits, he spent his last years on the run from Australia to Japan NW Sea Eagle.
I can post a picture if this is appropriate, maybe someone on the forum could comment?
Best Regards
Paul Blackmore (Steves younger brother)

Welcome Aboard Paul, and I'm so sorry to hear of the loss of your dear brother Steve.
You know,I would think most of us on this site can identify with your statement about him' not being a great socialiser outside his work',individually I would say yes,we tend to be quite private individuals --yet we love to get together and swap reminiscences, yarns and knowledge as a fraternity-just look at this site!
I always recommend and redirect others on to probably the best Shell site on the web-HELDERLINE
It shows photos of almost every tanker operated ,with listings and comments from any known personnel who who have sailed in each ship.
That's especially useful if you know his ships ,which may be listed in his Seaman's Discharge Book if you have it.
Cheers from Graham
