Re: Returning member
Yes the bit about weddings on board is correct, some do take place but are not legal apart from in USA I am informed.
Carnival corporation owns the following cruise companies.
Carnival
Cunard
Costa
Holland America
P&O UK
P&O Australia
Princess
Seabourne
All registered in Hamilton as it is still a British protectorate so the Red Ensign can still be flown.
But Cunard have the QE registered in Southampton so that they can maintain the name in UK.
P&O UK has I am informed one ship also registered in Southampton for similar reason.
Happy daze John in Oz.

Re: Returning member
Those flags mentioned can fly a defaced Red Ensign , because I have sailed on them , some can also fly their own national flag. At any wedding ceremony the legal part is the Registry of such , and the OLB has the proper place where such is registered until the confirmation of the legality of such is decided ashore and registered again in the proper place. Maybe the ships carry a marriage celebrant if the master isn’t one . Can imagine the name of the master if he is one would be “ Holy Joe or Mike “ . JS
