With government boat inspectors and climate change, upkeep of the boat,it's not the same as 20 years ago,as long as I get as much as possible and see my fishermen friends,it keeps your mind and body ticking, the sea has been my life,no regrets only getting married

Barry welcome also, the site earns its reputation from covering as largely as possible all aspects of seagoing and not to any particular group of individulists wishing to promote any particular aspect of the job. Your own experiences the same as others will be most welcome to promote the truth be it good or bad, it holds a lot of us by the simple fact that you more or less can speak your mind. Those who dont like that sometimes leave which is totally their choice , and I never see the need for any big fanfare when they do so. I would the same as others just go and that would be it. Any seafarer past present or future , myself look forward to listening to. As happens in any walk of life discussions often stray from the beaten track, without which it would be very humdrum, but soon comes back to the main topic usually. Cheers JS

    Barry
Did you ever know Bill Estill, who was harbour master in Whitby back in the late 80's early 90's? I sailed with him when he was mate in Canadian Pacific.
