My wife's grandfather was T124 and sailed on the Biter and and Begum both aircraft carriers. (I have his discharge book for this period) He also sailed on the Dunnotter Castle which was an armed merchant ship. He was never in the Merchant Navy as such but when he signed up in 1940 he was taken on the T124 agreement. Not sure why and after the War he returned to civvy street in 1946.
