Many, many years ago, I was on the night shift at EJM and I heard CQ OBS which I copied and sent to Bracknell. Unfortunately I was unable to contact the ship (a one way transmission) but I wasn't altogether surprised as the vessel was over fifteen hundred miles west of Malin Head. I was also on duty on the following night and despite the ship being westbound, I called him again. Thanks to Messrs Heaviside/Appledon, I got him this time and he was appreciative of what I had done. However, other than conventional pleasantries (TU TKS GN SU etc) there were no further exchanges. Despite hundreds of QSO's, before and after, that one always struck in my head. So if by a long shot (millions to one?) that R/O should be reading this, if he is still alive and remembers the incident, perhaps he might contact me? The ship was the Morengo or Murengo/GFLW.
