Thanks Marian
Yes that is confusing, as said i have not known one Person to have two Service Numbers in the same Service, but could be incorrect??
Cheers
The one that was posted first looks like the correct one though by Records i have seen of others, that show that Prefix is for Catering.
But thos are both the same Number Marian with different Prefixes, where does the J.X.164344 RN come in i wonder?
Am i missing something?
The Two prefixes that are showing are as first posted, and would mean that he was Catering. As it states that is an update in the Gazette from the LT/JX to LT/LX A JX prefix would mean another department not sure as now what it was but will look it up
Cheers
Added JX was Seaman and Communications
LT and LX were as said Catering (Officers Cooks and Stewards) so he must have been on both Duties

Hi
The DoB for Mr Banner we've got in around 1920, from the marriage certificate.

Hi
I can't see Mr Banner's name on the second scan you've posted. Is he one of these that has been crossed out?
Hi
We've seen that page on Forces War Records, which led us the minesweeper HMS MMS 105.
Will continue to look, paddle steamers are part of my interest also just assisting
others, mainly to repay in a way all the help I received years ago from those that
helped me in my own searches.

An update on what we've discovered about Michael Banner.
It appears that after WW2 he didn't return to the sea. When he married, he described himself at a Labourer and when he passed away 30 years later he was working in a Brighton factory.
My niece is hoping to obtain enough evidence to obtain Mr Banner's RN service record.
Thanks to everyone who replied to my original post. Jon
