Re: Hello
That's all great information - the "Olympic" record is very interesting as I think she was of The White Star line and Mum has always said that he was Shore Bosun for them in Southampton docks so a possible connection.
Thanks again.

Many thanks for your efforts Doc

Re: Hello
Not 100% sure but feel that Shore Bosun would not come under normal Seamans Records!?
But who knows, will have to look around.
Cheers

Re: Hello
Thought I noticed in those particulars the height of the tallest mast but can’t see it now , only to the top of the funnel . The first thing a pilot coming on board and going under bridges would ask, would be what was known in Seamans terms as the “ air draft”. Another minor thing to a Ships architect but a big thing to the ships information for practical use . Otherwise had to go with a ruler to the ships profile drawings and measure in inches or millimetres and work out from the scale how high above the keel they were . Easy to make a mistake . Maybe that nursery Rhyme “ London Bridge is Falling Down “ , was after all written by a seaman. Cheers JS
