Re: Looking for Grandfather- James White
Can anyone make out the name of the Ship on that Manifest! I cannot
Thanks
This may assist me in trying to trace him??
As i see it at this stage Debbie i have looked through most of my normal Links and as yet no one of that name (well his name that is ) has come up. Only that Manifest by Marian which may or may not be correct ?? I am hoping that someone can ID the name of the Ship This leads us to possibly that either his Records are lost or for some reason destroyed (many were ) or else the Records may in their Original Form at the Southampton Archives. This is where they keep all the CR10 . Best bet is to contact them through Email and ask the question.
Hope there is a solution to this one in the end??
Cheers

Re: Looking for Grandfather- James White
Thanks everyone for trying. I knew it would be a longshot.
I will see if I can get a copy of the above Baptism record maybe it will have more information that might lead me to a Birth record.
I'll keep checking back to see if anyone happens on any new info and will update if I find anything more concrete.
Thanks so much again for all your efforts
Debbie

This points to the Crew list for that Ship from the National Archives. so could be of some use.
Ship Potomac , official number: 115127. When built: 1902. Registry closed: 1919. | The National Archives
Although it does say up to 1920 ?? So ???

I really can't confirm much in the way of details .. as we can't find records for him.. and most details were by word of mouth.
