    Default WW2 unknown ship

Hi all wondering if anyone can tell me were to go for information on the name of a ship my grandfather told me he was on during ww2
he said it was torpedoed off the east coast of South Africa and limped into East London or Durban for repair and when it came back out
it got torpedoed again. i was just a young boy at the time he told me so don't know if there is anything to the story or not. He was born in 1906 and i have some of his Merchant Navy books but there is a gap for the war years. Thank for any info Danny

Danny note you have been a member since 2016 so may (or may not) have been following many posts. To put it into perspective over 2500 were lost during WWII and perhaps just as many damaged, so the more information you can give it will assist our volunteer researchers (who are good) to help you. You say the war years are missing, this may be for a number of reasons, like my MN father he may have joined the armed forces at outbreak of war, but if he was a navigator he would have been asked to rejoin the MN after a couple of years. Any numbers you can find in your grandfathers papers will help immensely.
