Default Hello, I'm looking for Capt. William, Maurice Cossentine

    Hello everyone,
I'm researching my family tree and was hoping to find more information about my grandfather, Richard Maurice Cossentine. He gained his Master's Certificate of competency in 1921 and captained several Elders & Fyffes after that. Has anyone got any family recollections?
    Thanks

If Maurice Richard Cossentine; year of birth, 1897; place of birth, Cornwall is correct, the following may be helpful:

    1915.

Ship: Coronado; Official number: 136350 - Maurice Richard Cossentine; rank/rating, Apprentice; year of birth, 1898.

Slight difference in year of birth but not unusual.

Added: Another record shows YOB as 1897: https://alpha.nationalarchives.gov.u...sation/Enfield

If above is correct here is some info on him and his Ships.
    Cheers

Think he was Captain of the Ship Manistee Elders and Fyffes Ltd around 1935 as well as the Aztec also Elders and Fyffes at that time

Hi Keith, thanks for replying. You're right, I had forgotten that I posted an earlier request with the correct name. I'm looking for info on Capt. RICHARD Maurice Cossentine, not William.

Hi Marian, Thanks for replying. I'm sorry, I've posted my request with the wrong name! I'm looking for info on Capt. RICHARD Maurice Cossentine, not William. He was born 24 Sep 1897 in Flushing, Cornwall and died in Salcombe on 26 Jan 1972. I have some info on ships, I know he was captain on the TSS Corrales for example. I know he went through the Panama Canal more than once. I'm really more interested in any recollections anyone might have of his sailing days or afterwards in Salcombe. Thanks :-)

RE: Recollections anyone might have of his sailing days or afterwards, may not happen but, we will try to help find more.
