Indeed. And I’ve actually posted a separate thread a few days ago on here about May’s husband, Jan Ming Tan. He’s was the primary focus of my research but now I’m stumped by May’s parents she has taken priority given it should be easier to find the necessary information.
What’s interesting also, is if she was evacuated, she very quickly returned and married soon afterwards early. Is it possible she returned, didn’t reunite with her parents, married soon after, and then reunited thereafter, at least with her mother. We know she reunited with her mother as my wife’s mother has memories of her granny. Just not enough to help us find out more!!
Re: Joseph Knight - Liverpool - Dock Board Labourer
Had not seen an earlier thread re: Jan Ming Tan etc.
For us we need to build up a picture and not only try to find more
but, need to find some cross references etc.
Fingers crossed.
Keith.

Re: Joseph Knight - Liverpool - Dock Board Labourer
Without a Place or DOB , is going t be very difficult indeed.
However as Louis says if a Dock Worker (Stevedore) i doubt if there woud be any actual Merchant Navy Records for that .
He may of course also have been on some Ships in his time, so a possibility that he was in the Merc?
So as said unless we have a bit more info ????
Just as an additive my late Uncle was one such person that was at Sae for many years, but also worked as a Dock Worker for a period of time , then returned to Sea later again. So its all possible
Cheers

Annie Knight (maiden name is Barry) according to May Knights birth certificate.
Re: Joseph Knight - Liverpool - Dock Board Labourer
There is a Marriage Cert for an Annie Knight at Liverpool in 1901 September , weher this is her or not ??
But if they lived at that address in 1926 quite possibly is ?? Would need to get the Certificate though, so its a hit or miss!
Cert is Ref. 8b 149
Re: Joseph Knight - Liverpool - Dock Board Labourer
I have known two persons here in WA with the surname of Knight , one was the ex head warder and may of been commissioner at one time of Fremantle Prison , now a tourist site. The other was a fellow member of a recent mentioned Order whose title was Knight Knight , so I christened him night night , he is now dead. When alive he used to love talking about his father who was in the MN during the war years and how he was apparently shunned by the people in the town he came from for not being in uniform as they all thought he was a draft dodger. He used to get very agitated when talking about it. JS.

Hope this works, I’ve tried attaching a picture of May’s birth certificate. Definitely Barry in my view.
