    Default Bunting brothers- Glenarm

Hi everyone, hoping this finds you all well. I have joined to ask for advise in finding out more about my late grandfathers (Patrick Bunting, Glenarm Co. Antrim) career in the Merchant Navy. Ultimately I would be delighted if I could apply for his artic convoy medal or any medals that he may have been eligible for.
I know very little about his career, apart from seeing a discharge book from late in his career.
I have his date of birth and a discharge number but that’s it. I know that he was at Dunkirk and that he was in the convoys to “most places”, with Murmansk also having been mentioned.
If anyone has advice on how to track down more information to enable me to proceed with relevant applications I’d really appreciate it!
    Thanks so much

This is his Seams Pouch Link which will only hold Basic info, so you will need his CRS10 for full Service Records.

    Thanks so very much.
Granda was Patrick, but also known as Paddy or Pat. He was born in Glenarm, Co. Antrim 17th august 1908 & passed away 30 Jan 1978.
The photo in his discharge book from the 1960s he’s holding the number R107666. The serial number of the book is: 66472. I would imagine it was one of his last books going by the date stamps, the last being 30 October 1967. He would have been quite young, possibly a bit underage when he began 😆
All of his brothers were at sea apart from one.
My mums family are poor historians, and I feel it’s such a shame not to know more.

Thanks so much in advance for any direction you may be able to offer

Very much appreciated!!! Should I apply for the deceased service records or approach Kew first?
