I would fitst get the Records then you will see if there was any Medals , which i doubt as i have searched through my normal channels, but at least you will have a lot more info should you still wish to contact the Medal People, and they do want Ships etc.
    Cheers

If you are near Kew it is best to go in Person of course!

Please be aware that Initial Search cost is 8.40 GBP no matter if they find or dont find there is no rebate on that.

They will then contact you if Found and give you Price if you want to go ahead.
Up to you then of course. (This is assuming you apply through the Internet)

If doing so also please remember to Quote the Seamans Pouch Reference Number along with the CRS10 Number as well. Also give as much info as you can.

Clara, if you take a look at the below link hopefully,
it will help much family wise. It is free, just needs
e.mail address and you make your own password.

    Search Historical Records
Search for a deceased ancestor in historical records to uncover vital information from their life.

Let us know how you get on.

    Regards, Keith.

Thanks so very much for all your previous help and advice…a few years on, with a few curve balls of life in between, I have unearthed so much information my Mums family knew nothing of. Thankyou.
Just before Easter we were informed Granda has been awarded three ww2 medals so I am absolutely thrilled!
We cannot find any of his records pre 1941. National archives pointed me to findmypast but there’s nothing in there apart from newspaper articles about Granda (saving a young boy who fell into the local harbour, or when he had engine failure while out pleasure boating with young ladies 😆 to his first experience of shipwreck) nothing that will help me with my merchant research 😆

Any advice where I would possibly be able to turn up 1939-41 log books would be amazing please!
