John Gouch - Ex Chief Engineer
Started my cadetship in 1988 at South Tyneside College without a sponsor (too old at 20 apparently) but was later taken on by Buries Markes. When they folded I moved to British Telecom Marine (BT Marine) before they were absorbed by Cable & Wireless.
In 1997 I was lured into the Superyacht industry and spent 6 years there as Chief Engineer.
Since coming ashore in 2003 I have been a Superintendent, senior project engineer for new build & conversion with Serco Marine. I moved to Svitzer for two years before being kidnapped and ran a marine consultancy for a couple of years before becoming a senior lecturer with Warsash Maritime Academy / Solent University. I loved the job but ill health forced early retirement in 2020.
