    Default Introducing myself

Hello, hope you are all keeping safe and well.
Been lurking for a while and thought I would join.
I sailed with Shaw Savill in the late 60s, early 70s on the Aussie and Kiwi runs. A great experience, the like of which are never forgotten
I was on deck and coming from Northumberland was always known as Geordie.
Hope I can contribute to this great site, many thanks to the admin and mods.

Welcome to the site Michael. I was with SS&A around the same time, in the engine room. The good times to be at sea were just coming to an end but we did see them.

Thanks for the welcomes. They were certainly good times to be on those runs.
I hope that I can contribute to this site, it certainly seems a very good site for info and swinging the lamp

    Hello Tony
I can't recall ever meeting these brothers, can only remember a C/E from up here on the Icenic, he had his wife and 2 kids one board on trip.

Never sailed out of the Tyne cappy. The first ship I was offered as a young deck boy, from the pool was a Houlders Bros ship from the Tyne going to China. My dad, ex MN himself, wouldn't let me go. So they said there was nothing for me up here, get yourself down to London.
