Re: Back on site again after bit of time away.
Well Lads with al the illness and ailments etc that we have and been through ,seems that in spite of it all we are still around and still Fighting whatever.
Its a good sign of sheer stamina and determination ,and i think that as ex Seaman most all of us are coping because of that.
Many others that never went to Sea i feel do not cope as well, so must have been the Sea Air and the fact that we saw life and were Happy chappies!
Hard work to of course came into it and again most all of us were Fit those days.
But sadly age catches up with many of us these days , as does various ailments.
But just to say to one and ALL that are suffering from one thing or the other, you all just hang in there, there is still a lot of go lef in many i am sure.
As the saying goes " Dont let anything grind you down" Well not exactly those words LOL
Take Care ALL
And all the best
Cheers

That's true Vernon, I think we were/are tougher, or at least we don't give in easily. I've always looked like a puff of wind would blow me over, but I'd always get up again.
age and illness is taking its toll I agree.
Jeff

Re: Back on site again after bit of time away.
Apparently the phrase originated during World War II. Lexicographer Eric Partridge attributes it to British army intelligence very early in the war (using the dative plural illegitimis). If carborere had been an actual Latin word meaning "to grind down", that version of the phrase would actually be correct Latin for "It must not be ground down by the b#stards" (with carborundum as a gerundive). The phrase was adopted by US Army General "Vinegar" Joe Stilwell as his motto during the war.

Re: Back on site again after bit of time away.
John, Jeff and all those out there in BMN OFP site you just hang in there.
You are not going anywhere just yet, firstly Cappy tells me you all owe him a beer, John you never paid for the last round he tells me.
So you all have a bloody good reason to stick around, and see it through.
Christmas is on the way and a new year which has to be better than this.
Now a couple of bits of advice.
Do not put the clocks back, it will mean the Virus gets and extra hour if you do.
Make sure you see the new year in and see him off.

But what the hell, we are the last of the greatest Merchant Navy the world has ever seen, nothing can touch us, we are tough!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Happy daze John in Oz.
Life is too short to blend in.
