There should be a small Pic of him with his Seamans Papers at the Archives, as we all had our Mug Shots taken when joining up.

Any more info that Pauline can assist with would be helpful,
I know she has mentioned all is limited but, if other family
members can be asked etc it may help.

    Regards, Keith.

    Possibly the tanker Imperial Transport:

Tanker Imperial Transport, 8,022grt, (Empire Transport Co. Ltd) sailed independently in ballast from Scapa Flow on the 10th February 1940 bound for Trinidad. The Following evening, about 160 nautical miles west of the Isle of Lewis the ship was hit amidships by a torpedo from U-53 and began to break in two. Within five minutes the bow section broke off completely and the order to abandon ship was given. Whilst launching the port lifeboat two crewmembers accidently fell overboard and were swept away to their deaths. When it became clear the stern section was going to remain afloat the ship was re-boarded. Unable to send a distress message, the ships Master ordered the Engineers to raise steam and managed to get the ship underway at a reduced speed. After sailing the ship some 130 miles they were met by a naval escort and eventually the remains of the stern section were taken in tow and a new bow section was eventually fitted. History would repeat itself in 1942, when the tanker was again torpedoed and broke in two, with the stern section being brought into St. John’s under her own steam, but this time without loss of life.
