Thank you for allowing me to join this forum. My DB No. was R897237 and I joined the MN 50 years ago in Sept as a cadet at Warsash. My first ship was P&O's MV Strathardle which I joined in Jan 1971. Thereafter I sailed in Pando Strait (ex Sunda), Uganda (BI), Oriana and in Uganda for a second time. After Second Mates I served as 3/0 in Post Runner and Post Champion, both chemical tankers, Oriana and made one trip in Canberra. While sitting for Mates in London in 1976 I failed the eyesight test. I then worked in London as a shipbroker for two years before emigrating to Sydney, Australia. There I joined TNT Shipping and worked for them until 1999 when I moved to Fremantle. I joined Austal, the high speed ferry builder and sold high speed ferries until I retired in 2012. Since then I have written two novels set aboard a tramp steamer in the 1930's, Oriental Vagabonds and Oriental Vengeance. I am working on a third.
