Hello
Hi Everyone,
Thank you for adding me to this fantastic site, I am a re-enactor and collector of Merchant Navy items, i personally like to find out as much about an item I own as possible, any items that I have are never sold or exchanged They are all kept, right down to the lonely uniform button I found at a car boot almost 10 yrs ago.
I would like some help to trace a previous owner of a uniform i have just acquired, The only information I have is a Norfolk Provenance and the family name of Drury , with connections to Southrepps. i have attached photos of the uniform .
Any help would be gratefully appreciated.

Re: Hello
The cap badge is standard B O T design for the MN, the stripes on the jacket are non standard MN and are a company livery, but which company cannot advise, as so many companies had a similar livery, for reasons best known to themselves, perhaps if you photograph one of the buttons and enlarge it we may be able to go further, as normally when you had company livery the buttons would be company livery also, normally a copy of the company capbadge.

Re: Hello
Hi Ivan
I have this information ,
an officer's formal uniform which was made by S.W. Silver & Co, Eastcheap, London EC3.
It can be dated to 1933 or thereafter as the double breasted fastening shows four buttons instead of five (this amendment made 1932) and is no later than 1939, as the premises appears to have been destroyed in the blitz.
The jacket is fully tailored and is extremely well-made, even though Silver & Co was considered the intermediate grade makers for uniform at this time, but still very high quality.
Beautiful evening suit-style fit through jacket and trousers correctly cut with centre back tailor's "fit" seam, for custom adjustment if required
The trousers have a button fly, side adjustors that allow the waist to be pulled in by a 2 inch increment (one inch each side), interior buttons for braces and a single button-through back pocket.
Company was Shaw Savill Line as these are the buttons on the Uniform

A very big ask this ,as there is very little info to go on.
We would need at least a Birth Year of the Person and the place he was Born.
So without this i doubt if we could assist much at all
Sorry
Cheers

Re: Hello
Personally would try the local family at this link: https://www.drurysenvironmental.co.uk/history/
Touch wood, they may assist, if negative - one eliminated.
Hope this helps, please advise and if needed can look further.
Regards,
Keith.
