Hms vivid
HI my name is Mag,
I'm trying to find my grandfathers records etc, he was A "Leading Stoker" whatever that is on HMS VIVID I have no idea if this is a Merchant Navy Ship or not, but would appreciate any ideas.

Hi,
This is definatlely a Royal naval ship. The term leading stoker means he was working in the engineroom. If I was you I would try a RN site. I hope you have good luck on your search.

HMS Vivid
Hi again, just a little more information for you. There were three navy ships with the name Vivid, also there were a couple of naval bases bearing the same name.
The first one was a wood paddle packet in 1894
The 2nd was a iron screw yacht in 1912
The 3rd was a submarine in the year 1943
I hope this information makes you search a little easier.

Hello Mag,
HMS VIVID was the name given to the Royal Naval Barracks in Devonport later renamed HMS DRAKE.
