Hi I wondered if anyone knows anything about my dad. I know very little due to family squabbles, his names was Charles Derrek Hord born 1921 in Goole Yorkshire and served in the merchant navy.

Re: looking for anyone who may know my dad
Thanks Frederick
However had another Search at NA in Seamans Pouches and nothing comes up with that name which is strange not even one!
Only other wat i suppose is to look if there may be a CRS10 for him but that costs!
Cheers
NB I have also searched FMP Records and again there is no name like that comes up,so i feel that he may not have been in the Merchant Navy in Britain ????
Cheers
There are Records of Birth, and Marriage but that is all

Re: looking for anyone who may know my dad
Hi i am sure my dads middle name is Derrick spelt this way as i have checked on findmypast i am sorry i can not give more to go on all i know is he was born in Goole Yorkshire, his date of birth and his death is as you say. Hord is definitely spelt this way as is on my birth certificate, i remember seeing a picture of him in his uniform with friends in new York outside a place called Rogers bar.

Re: looking for anyone who may know my dad
Shelley
Can you recall the Uniform at all, was it Merchant Navy or Royal Navy or even possibly American .
On FMP i have as said seen records for him but not Forces records so yes the spelling is correct as i see it.
Last nameHord |
First name(s)Charles D |
Year Of Birth1921 |
Year Of Death— |
Year1921 |
Record setEngland & Wales Births 1837-2006 |
LocationGoole, Yorkshire, England |
Will keep on looking and let you know if anything should arise.
Hope that some day you may get to know a bit more
Cheers
Also as said Shelley to outlay a bit of cash to see if there may be other rcords on him (his CRS10) is i feel the only other option ,it may prove fruitless but then at least you know that it can be ruled out that he was not with the British Merchant Navy.
Here is Link to CRS10 Covering his name ,so if he was with BMN he would have a CRS10 within this Series.
Best of Luck

If you come up with a Blank on the BMN and feel he may i say may have possibly been with the American Merchant Navy here is a Link to use for applying for a Record, again a hit and miss situation untill you try!??

Re: looking for anyone who may know my dad
Hi Shelley
A pic of the Uniform will be of help i am sure,we can try and doctor it if its a bit iffy LOL
But may shed light on what Service he was in.
Will await your posting
Cheers
The more i search Shelley its becoming that he may well not have been in the Merchant Navy ,but do try and look or obtain that CRS10 as that will confirm his Service if he did .
As said with a Pic of that Uniform,we may be able to whittle down what was what.
Just seems so strange that there is no name to match at any of my usual places of search,i talk about Service Records only .
So the search continues!
