Take your time Anthony and have a meander through the Forums. We also have an excellent Gallery with some great pictures of ships, try looking to see if any of your past ships are there by using the search facility in the Gallery. They are a great crew on here, if there is anything you are unsure of just ask and someone will help.

    Hello Anthony,

I was on the Crowborough Beacon on her maiden voyage out of Rotterdam, she left port but was immediately in a head on collision and had to return to port. I was on the foredeck at the time and still remember the vision of the approaching ship and willing it to change direction. While awaiting repairs it was decided that I was surplus and was shipped back to Dock Street for another ship.

    Michael

I joined the Crowborough Beacon on Boxing Day in Rotterdam after she had a completely new mid section fitted and we sailed for Tampa Florida to load phosphate for Japan this was taken to two ports and unloaded by women by hand. On to Narua for more of the same to Geraldton in ballast to Durban home to Rotterdam. Sorry I have no dates I was Chief Steward and I believe the captain was Albert Lesley Pigg.
