Hello from Manchester
Hi
I look forward to participating in the site and getting advice to research my late grandfather’s life.
He died when I was young and didn’t really know him, and all I really remember was that he watched a lot of snooker and horse racing. Which is boring as I was a toddler!
He served in the Merchant Navy during WW2 for the ‘Ministry of War’? I have found some info, but hopefully people here can provide some leads to follow when I’ve got around to a separate post.
I was pleased to find a British Legion Merchant Navy poppy badge to buy last year and wear alongside a traditional paper poppy. No one in work really understood the Merchant Navy role properly in the wars so it has been good for me to be able to raise awareness.
In terms of me - by trade I’m a road collision investigation engineer by so I work a lot with the police. Although working up the ladder in the public sector means I’m more of an ‘office wallah’ now!
Thanks
Nadeem.

Re: Hello from Manchester
Nadeem, may I suggest that if you have any info regarding your GF, such as maybe a discharge book or other info you post it on site.
With that there are some who will be able to point you in the right direction to hopefully find more about your GF.
Happy daze John in Oz.
Life is too short to blend in.
