Hi everyone,
Just re-joined the forum and would like to find out if anyone else sailed on the same ships as myself. I would like to hear from old shipmates and to actually find out what ports I have visited during my time at sea. My memory is not that great so I would appreciate any help you can give me and it will be good to catch with some of you. I sailed with P&O General Cargo Division as an engineer from 1973 until 1980 then became containerised and joined Overseas Containers Ltd. and left the sea in 1985.
The List:

Re: Any one sail on these ships
Hello John
Nice to see you back after such a long break, but then we all have our ways and decisions n.
Anyway I have not looked at the Crew lists yet ,have you entered your details there?? If not please do, Thanks you
I hope that there will be some on here that possibly were on some of the Ships you mention,as yes its good to make contact with old buddies.
You mention the Ports you visited, have you ever thought of trying to get the Ship Movement Cards from the Guildhall Library in London this will give full details of each ships Voyage Record Card on the dates you choose!
Best of luck
Cheers
Just an example of one of mine

Re: Any one sail on these ships
Hi John, although I didn't sail on any of the ships mentioned, I thought I would just drop a line as I had a very similar background. Joined GCD in July 1974, spent a year on the MV Otaio. followed by 6 months or so in Cardiff. Back to see on the Mataura for around 7 or 8 months; Short trip on the Ardmay of Bulk Shipping and then onto Gazana also of BS. Moved over to Container fleets for my last trip as deck cadet on Jervis Bay. Back to college for 2nd Mates, then moved over permanently to Container fleets, sailed in Moreton Bay and Jervis Bay befor redundancy in 1980.
Regards
Rob

Re: Any one sail on these ships
Hi John, I was in the Piako just after you although I was on deck, The Strathdevon is also in my book again just a little later do you remember the skippers name aboard the Strathdevon, We had the pleasure of one Capt Bligh, I fully intended going around the land and then deep sea with her, After going around the land with the skipper of the Bounty that is how bad he was, Not many signed deep sea articles and most on deck got out, P@O Had both of them under there umbrella when I was in them Regards Terry.
