Re: RFA Black Ranger - Kenneth H Churchouse
Just as a matter of interest - I have been through the history of Black Ranger on the RFA Historical Site and there is no reference of a Captain Kenneth H Churchouse ever being a Master of her.
Re: RFA Black Ranger - Kenneth H Churchouse
Yes Chris
That is funny as i was just thinking on the lines that possibly he was on an American Ship as Captain,as those letters on his Rememberance Stone MMSA somehow points to the Mercantile Marine which to me referred to the USA ??? Here again i could be very incorrect, just Fishing i guess.
Cheers
Re: RFA Black Ranger - Kenneth H Churchouse
Futher to my last post I have come across this site which may or may not be relevant?
I only post this as a possible way of finding out if Capt Churchouse as said may have been with the USA at some stage,as the Application form also with a Link mentions the word Suffix which is mentioned on the one post of mine with his details earlier?? This being the MMSA Suffix
As said this may or may not be of help??

From the Guildhall Library London
There are, two series for this period. The first, shorter series (Guildhall Library manuscript number 18568) shows masters active in 1948. The second (GL manuscript number 18569) details those who died or retired between 1911 and 1948. Both series have accompanying card-files of qualified masters who did not, as far as Lloyd's knew, become captains, though their service as mates is recorded.
Re: RFA Black Ranger - Kenneth H Churchouse
Hi John.
On the R.F.A. Wave Baron we had a Captain RNR and a first mate RNR, also a Surgeon Commander RNR, may have been a few others in the engine room. Don't know if it was just because we went to Korea to oil the fleet or.

Hello Anne, I sailed with a Ken Churchouse in 1961/62. He was Captain on the m.v. Somme,a small coaster which was on the Liverpool/Manchester to Rouen and Paris trade. She was owned by Wm. H. Miller & Co. He was from Eastleigh and had two daughters. I am typing this on my tablet but will give you more info. when I get on my computer tomorrow. I hate these keyboards. Got to be your man.
