Hello - new here - anyone know of Norton Clare?

Hi,
I'm new here and don't know quite where to post my question.
I have a few old photos of a certain "Norton Clare" - including a picture of him on deck of a ship, in uniform, and on the back of photo it says "Castilian Prince" 1929. I'm not a sailor, just a person who enjoys a good mystery. I'd like to find out if anyone has any interest in (or connection to) these photographs. There is a bit more to the story - the photos came from my elderly neighbor's house and they belonged to his mother. She is long gone, and none of the relatives have any idea who this man is. Can someone help me out, or point me to the right forum here? This is a fun and interesting web site - thanks for having me!

Hi Linnea.
here is what I found out about the Castilian Prince ,Steel Cargo ship built in 1919 in Middlesbrough for the Ellerman Line. In 1943 while carrying a cargo of munitions to Lisbon struck the East Platers Rocks off Angelsey in North Wales and sunk. As`yet I cannot find a picture. As for Norton Clare you could go to the US emigration web site and for 1919/20 if Norton Clark arrived in the US it would be there.

Don't know if this pertains to him but worth a try!
As you can see he was on other Prince Ships and looks like he may hane been on the Ship in question ,but does not show on his Document ??
May be not him??

####prince line .....my great grandfather william watt died aboard the egyptien prince in the 1890s and left my gran and her brother in very hard times ...no benefits much in them days...the workhouse next step ....he died of yellow fever in pernanbuco ... now called recife ..... he was chief officer his death was recorded in the new york times as the vessel was held and steam fumigated plus before being allowed alongside .....my grans brother was sent to the royal navy and was in the HMS Barham in the ist world war ...of course she was blown to smithereens in the second world war...so i suppose some would say he was lucky .......cappy

Hello Linnea,
Yeoman Norton Clare b.1906 was the master of TUDOR PRINCE he died aboard ship on 27.11.1943 from Pneumonia. I have some other cards for him which I wont post on this site but please send your email via a private message and I will send on to you.
There may be a note on his death in the narrative section of the ship's official logbook for 1943 held at Kew in piece BT 381/2605
He married Florence W. Gooding in 1933. He was serving as third officer aboard CASTILIAN PRINCE in 1930.

My eyes say that is CYPRIAN PRINCE not CASTILIAN PRINCE.
