Hello from gravesend
Hi just came across this site and thought why not?
I served in the merchant navy for about 2 years from 1979 to 1981 and sailed on three ships deep sea
Can't remember ship names or any ship mates as it's so long ago but do remember it was a fantastic life for those couple of years and sailed all around the world from new Zealand to Russia and everywhere in between
Shipping companies were cunard, silverline and denholms and ships were deep hold, and container and I used to be a catering steward.
Would be great to meet some old friends or even anyone that used to be a "PEANUT" IN Gravesend in 1979 leading up to Christmas at the training college in Denton
Would appreciate any help in finding crew lists etc to facilitate finding anyone I knew.
Thanks

Hello Hadyn
Nice to have you here with us and hope you will enjoy the site!
I am sure later you may get some replies from chaps who may have been with you at Gravesend.
Its not that long ago,i was at Sea in 1958 and can recall the Ships ,as well as many here that also do from that era and before
So put on your thinking cap , I am sure you will recall some!
We cannot help with Crew lists if we don't have any Ships to go on!
Will await your feedback!
Cheers

Hi Hadyn, I believe the old school still stands today as a police training collage, Tell me does the little canal still run along side the road you took to the old sea school Terry.
