I agree it is a grand tradition!
Everyone should be taken home
to their beloved homeland to rest in peace.
My Uncle may well be resting in the
country of his birth; we just can not find
the place. My parents and grandparents are long gone
and I have no other way to find out. This reminds me of the

Thank you for the contact information! We are going to be busy e-mailing. It seems that burial records are much harder to come by. There were no laws to regulate record keeping in regards to burial dates and places: but, I will carry on in the search. Thank you for all your help. :)

I know what you mean my old eyes have trouble with such neon colors.

The song Loch Lomond is very emotive of death and the bringing home of the remains. It was sung on the eve of battle by the Scottish Soldiers.
The high road meant the girl could walk to Loch Lomond and the Low Road meant the soldier would be carried home dead or only his spirit would get back.
After Culloden there was only the spirit of the Highlands left.

Thank you for your comment explaining so beautifully the lovely song Loch Lomond. That song always brings a tear to my eye. That beautiful song Loch Lomond has many meanings and memories for me.
My grandmother took me to see Loch Lomond when I was a wee girl and I picked a sprig of purple heather. It was the most beautiful place I had ever seen. My mom a lovely lass from Glasgow used to hum the melody of Loch Lomond. A dear friend's son who was a Scottish Soldier from Glasgow volunteered and signed up in the United States Marines and fought in the infamous VietNam War.
So Loch Lomond and the song A Scottish Soldier are very dear songs to me.
