On behalf of my brother Stuart Jeffries-Hartlepool, Co. durham
Big Hello, I am looking for any information on my late brother's time in the Merchant Navy. He wasn't in long, but I know he worked for Palm Line and also Silver Line.....His name was STUART JEFFRIES, Only ship name I knew was the 'M.V.Sigsilver' Silverline Ltd Palmeston House, Bishopsgate, London.....His time in the Navy would be around late 1960's / 70's. He was divorced later after that and probably his wife had more info. But we, sadly don't have any info or photos. I know its a long shot, but thank you for reading this and I live in hope....Janette Newman(nee Jeffries) many thanks again...

Re: On behalf of my brother Stuart Jeffries-Hartlepool, Co. durham
Hello and welcome Janette,
His Seaman's Pouch is held at Kew in piece BT 372/2575/123
Usually there is an ID photo in the pouch - they can be hit and miss with regard to content though.
You really need his CRS 10 - service record - which will list all his shps with the caveat that it will end in 1972. The file, if it has survived, should be held at Kew in piece BT 382/2506. The Registry of Shipping & Seamen is unable to provide information on the sea service of individual seamen from 1973 to 1993 as records were not kept between those dates.
Although the pouch can be obtained online, the CRS 10 is much more expensive so best to obtain both files by visit to the archives in Kew.
Regards
Hugh

Hi Janette, cannot locate Stuart on any crew lists either on Ancestry world wide or FMP. Presume you have checked the other family trees available on Ancestry for info/photos?
In the midst of that at present.
Have you ordered Stuart's CRS from National Archive? That would list the ships he was on.
