Re: newby
Hi Arthur,
I had an old friend on Islay, Portnahaven I think. Neil McNeil, he was a Bosun on ESSO.
I think he is dead now for a few years.
Did you ever come across him,?
His wife was Wendy from Hampshire.
Cheers
Brian

Re: newby
Marian, Did you know there was an Arthur aboard every ship that ever sailed, If you hit your finger with a chipping hammer/ Or had no money in the ship to obtain a sub for a run ashore/ Or after 4 hours on the wing of the bridge on lookout your relief let you down/ Or your ship was stuck on the hook awaiting a berth................................The spoken word was usually Arfer (*&*^&%$

Hi Terry.
Or as I was once up the mast on a bosun's chair busting for a pee and looking down seeing the rope tied off on the winch and no sign of your mate.
Cheers Des
