Hello and help please
Looking to find information about my grandad Joseph Cooper. He was in the merchant navy tanker called the enterprise. He went down the Suez canal, Australia and India. Any information would be great as he's90 this year and still talks about it.

Re: Hello and help please
Would he have what is known as a discharge book, a bit like an MN passport , would have a record of ships and dates, photo etc and would have his unique MN number. Also full name, date of birth and where born etc helps much. The more info the better. I would imagine others on site will help and you never know, someone may know him. Keith.

Re: Hello and help please
He's remembered more stuff today. It was the British tanker company London. The tanker he was on was called the British tradition,he was called up in 1944 and he did his training in Gravesend London. Hope this may help?
Thanks.

Re: Hello and help please
Hello and welcome,
The best thing you can do to avoid guesswork is to apply for his CRS 10 and seaman's pouch if they have survived. For that we would need his full name date and place of birth.
These records would detail all his ships from his first trip to sea right through until he left the sea.
Regards
Hugh

Hi Hugh
Is there a specific website for getting his CRS10 and seamans pouch. He's 90 this year and that would be a great present for him!
Thanks
Helen

You are probably in the best hands with Hugh for this advice, he I will I expect answer for himself ASAP. In an attempt to help: re-iterate: " For that we would need his full name date and place of birth." Possibly place of birth also. Yes, indeed. If you don't want to put this up on a public forum you can private message me with the info and I will take a look for you.
