'Morning All', What a wonderful signing on and reading all the... 'er accolades! Not a Legend... only in my lunch break! Perhaps an 'Old Has been' would be more appropriate. The Sun is shining through my balcony window, can't wait for Summer... but only +4C outside, pity.
Margaret will be over tomorrow, my foot nurse will come to attend to both her and my feet...marvellous! Then we go to our Local, The Tartan Tavern, see friends and knock off some Killkenny ale she's only allowed soft drinks, too bad. More chat and banter and to bed.... no visitors please. Saturday 'fitba on my 54" TV all day. Marg is not for sharing, only my Single Malt and Cigars.
I have started my bio of all the voyages on a voice recorder. Downloaded to this 'puter then burn on a CD. Awful long job but easier than typing using only one eye. Memories are fairly good and have all my records from the M.N. and Army. Dunno' how much time's left but could go for ages yet I hope.
Again many thanks, Regards to All, Cheers, Eric

Hi Eric, whoever said Whiskey and cigars are bad for you, were talking "codswallop" it hasn't done you any harm, remember this song, "cigarettes and whiskey and wild wild women" how many of us have been down that road
. Sad to say I won't be able to hear your story on the cd but I'll give a copy to my son as it's going to be a unique account of what life was like at sea in your younger days when the world was at war. All the best. JC

Hada detached Retina many Years ago now, they had to use a Laser Beam to repair it,took the Eye out first though ,so after the Op I was a bit sore and swollen there, also had a bad discoloration for a day ot so!
But the op went well and my sight was saved,as I was rushed to the Hospital the time it was actually peeling away.! Eeeek!
Now after some 30 Years the sight is still not too bad at all, only now have the start of Cataracts in both Eyes and have been outing any futher ops off! Wonder if I should just get them done!
But they are not too bad yet and have been passed OK for driving ,but have to now have an Eye Test every Year to keep my 5 Year Licence! Oh dear!! LOL

Hi all, I've been trying to keep on site by using a large magnifier for the computer but all I've managed to do is make things worse by getting eye strain, so I'll have to have a break for a while, the trouble with this site is it's too enjoyable and is very addictive, looking forward to coming back. Best wishes to all of you. John C.
