    William Boyle born Belfast 1st January 1915. Served as a ships cook.
    Retired to Vancouver. Has anyone any information?

    Hi Cecil, Welcome to the forum Do you have any other information whatsoever regarding William?
    Discharge Book, when he joined the MN, parents or sibling names?

    He didn't have any family in the Tyne area such as brothers etc. Knew a Father and son Boyle, but is a fairly common name but they were both seagoing. Cheers John S

    There is only one I can see but the Birth date isn't the same,however a lot of Guys changed the dates of Birth to go to Sea could this be him I wonder!??

    Thanks to everyone who answered my call. I went on to National Archives/Merchant Navy/WW2 Campaign Medals and found him!
    William James Rush Boyle, born Belfast 1st January 1915.
    Medals Ref. BT 395/1/9299
    Discharge No. R 97050
    Then I went on to canadaonline.about.com and discovered that he died in Vancouver on 28th March 1988 aged 73

    If he served after Jan, 1941 is service record (CRS 10) should be held at the National Archives, Kew in piece BT 382/166
