Great to read about Port Line it was a good line to be with. I was AB/QM on Port Lyttleton June/November 1952, became caught up in the NZ wharfies strike, AB on Port Quebec April/September 1953, and AB on Port Macquarie Jan/June 1954. The Quebec was on the MANZ run so a 2-year trip was anticipated. The whole crew sailed as passengers on Cunard's Samaria to Quebec then by train to Halifax to replace those ending their 2-years. My 2 years never happened as upon leaving Fremantle we sailed for Liverpool stopping at Port Said to load huge deck cargo of everything military collected from the desert like jeeps, guns, bren-gun the carriers.
