Re: Newbie to the forum
Welcome Lewis, you must be the last one on this site to have tasted salt water, ours is in our blood so we can hardly remember what it tastes like, but that doesn't stop us thinking that we do! We look forward to some up to date stories to join our trips down memory lane

Hi Charlie, I sailed on the Dummura(spelling) in 1969, she was my first deep trip, Captin Alan Ness, C/Eng Davie Heppell.
I was a pierhead jump for that one as I was still doing my pre-sea training. I was staying at Iliad house in Birkenhead. Got a rap at 2am, get packed yer shipping out. Junior Eng had taken ill so that was me sailing down the Mersey bound for West Afica. Never even had time to tell me Mum I was gone. Six weeks they told, 7 months in the end. The ship got put on the West Africa / USA run. I loved every minute.
Thanks for the welcome.
