Hello all,

Apologies if this isn't appropriate here but while bored at sea I decided to write an android app that calculates if you qualify for tax relief or not.

The problem is I've never claimed tax before (only been at sea since September last year) so I'd really appreciate any suggestions on what you guys would want to see in it.

I currently have it set so it figures it out for one year but maybe you guys claim for multiple years in one go? These are the things I'm unsure of and feedback would be great

I presume that this is just for UK Residents,very unusual Post to say the least,but if it can help others then I don't see any harm it being here,as long as it doesn't turn out to be a bogus Link!
We are all very wary of clicking on Links supplied here ,so at this time I will just steer clear!

Nice idea but HMRC have already beaten you to it.
If you go to their website you can download for free the form used to calculate your tax days. A bit of excel knowledge and this form can then be used to automatically calculate your tax days and let you know if you qualified in any 365 day period for 100% tax rebate.

When I get my P45 or P40 whichever it is, it always has on it no tax deducted, which is very kind of them. However Tax is deducted at this end by the Australian government, so the UK is contributing something to its former colony, I really wonder how many countries in the world the UK contributes towards. JS

Thats unbelievable 185 countries, much more than even in the UN. How many before the war to end all wars. The working people of the UK have fought Factory, Mine and shipping owners and many more to get a decent living wage to bring up families, everytime I seemed to be getting somewere in the UK by foregoing leave etc. it was taken away in tax. To be able to give away money ad lib from the ordinary man in the street seems a bit obscene to me. One of the things which a lot here dont agree with that in the Budget here he is cutting back on foreign aid, and this has the do gooders screaming unfair. I know who are the ones receiving the unfair treatment. Cheers John S.

. Gordon Brown , like his Mentor, Teflon Tony Bliar, has got a 2 million pound a year job with the UN as an Envoy. and lives in Luxury hotels and 1st class air fares as he pontificates about nothing.
He helped to bancrupt Britain and now lives in a different world than he has forced upon us.

Wonder if he wants Home Rule for Scotland. Maybe after he has taking his toll at the UN may go for Scottish President, may even ask Tony one of his mates to be his PM. Or would that not be allowed, dont think he is a Scot, but could take out nationalization papers. JS
