I was posted to RAF Saxa Vord, on Unst, during the Falklands recovery and seem to remember a few 'exercises' taking place before the main operation. As you say, The Shetland Isles are the nearest thing we have to the Falkland Isles. Although I wasn't allowed to go south, one of the radars I worked on did. I believe it is now searching for submarines in Falkland Sound due to the damn french exocets :mad:
