Hi
Had a reply regarding copies of CRS10 and advised that cannot copy document 382/552 as it is too large to estimate for.
Ignored the other quote as its not the right G A Evans.
Name:Geoffrey A Evans
Mother's Maiden Surname:Aucott]
Date of Registration:Apr-May-Jun 1916
Registration district:Madeley
Inferred County:Shropshire
Volume Number:6a
Page Number:1013
Name: Geoffrey A Evans
Spouse Surname: Arrowsmith
Date of Registration: Jul-Aug-Sep 1942
Registration district: Wenlock
Inferred County: Shropshire
Volume Number: 6a
Page Number: 1805
Could that be your Grandfather , with his middle name as Aucott ? if so then you can confirm exact date of birth and obtain Birth and Marriage certificates
The reason being these CRS10 files are held in block by surname. BT382/552 covers the surnames "Evans Douglas Arthur to Evans Gordon William" If you can give them more details to narrow the search, they would give you a quote. These records are always easiest to obtain if you can get somebody to visit Kew in person.
Hi
That is Grandad, he married Barbara Arrrowsmith.
Neil,
I have checked the online medal records and there is no record of any medals issued or claimed for him. As I said my previous email your starting point for medal entitlements must be to contact the Registry of Shipping and Seamen at the address below. You need to ask them if there is a medal entitlement for him - I wouldn't count on one being there. They will tell you that in order to claim his medals his next of kin will need to prove the area and time qualification as per my previous message. In the absence of his Discharge Book, the form CRS 10 will provide a list of ships from January 1941 [meeting the time qualification] then from the list of ships you can then obtain the movement cards for same [meeting the area qualification].

The last I heard the incumbent medal officer had just retired and they were training a replacement - hopefully this has now been completed.

Hugh
If you ring or go to

for less than £20 they will send a copy of the Birth Certificate and wedding certificate , These will narrow your details down , you need the Page and Volume number off the previous post , with an exact date of birth and a copy of the certificate , life may be easier .

Thank you for all your help, I will do my best to follow this through. Would it be Ok if I called upon your help if I hit a blank.
My wish is to do my Grandad proud with my own military service and to present to my Mum a bit of missing family history.
Best wishes to you Doc
