New member. Hello!
Hi,
My name is Ron and I attended Gravesend Sea School in the Winter of 1964 through to Feb.1965.
Sailed from Liverpool on Carinthia (Cunard) and a couple of Newcastle registered iron ore carriers MV Cheviot and Daghestan.
Would like to hear from anyone with similar memories.
Thanks,
Ron

Hi Brian,
Thanks for your reply.
My first trip was on Carinthia as a Commis Waiter in 1965 and stayed for about a a year before getting fed up with Atlantic crossings. I wanted to see more of the world and joined the ore carrier Cheviot expecting new adventures - unfortunately, this ship took me straight back across to Canada! However, after that things improved a lot and Cheviot was my favourite ship.
Cheers,
Ron

Hi John,
Regret, I can't remember any crew names from Daghestan but I think the Skipper was Italian.
Cheers,
Ron
