Default First Tripper here...(well to the forum anyway!)

    HI all Shipmates,

just joined up to this forum and thought would introduce myself!

I first went to sea in 2000, did my time with James Fisher Tankships, mainly North West Europe but a few further afield trips as well to makle it intresting! Also spent some time on Aframax Tankers with Chevron so have seen both sides of the tanker world!

Currently working as an Operations Super for a Pool Operator based in London, operating PAnamax tankers worldwide, but in particular West Africa, Med and Indain Ocean. 90% of time based in the office but still get to spend a bit of time climbing the companionway for inspections, ride ons and the odd Port Captancy!

I am also involved with the Nautical Charity 'Maritime Volunteer Service' (Welcome to the Maritime Volunteer Service | Maritime Volunteer Service). An nation wide organisation with aprox 30 units and 50 different craft of different sizes up to 24m. IF intrested in passing along your skills or if wish to experience something different check them out (recruitment drive over!)

    Default First Trip

Welcome David, nice to see we have some youngish blood, and someone who first went to sea in the 21st century, most of us by posts related were in the forepart of the 20th century, some just missing the 19th century .

Volunteering sounds like a good idea, but guess most of us are too old for volunteering for anything except leaving our bodies to medical science, and that could save some money, as they won't have to preserve our bodies in alcohol as we've already done it for them!

    Welcome aboard and pleasant sailing.

    Christmas Joke :-

A city cop was on his horse waiting to cross the street when a little girl named Mary stopped beside him on her new shiny bike.
"Nice bike" the cop said "did Santa bring it to you?"
"Yep," the little girl said, "he sure did!"
The cop looked the bike over and handed the girl a |£20 ticket for a traffic violation., saying "Next year tell Santa to put a reflector light on the back of it."
The young girl looked up at the cop and said, "Nice horse you got there sir, did Santa bring it to you?"
"Yes, he sure did," chuckled the cop.
The little girl looked up at the cop and said, "Next year tell Santa the dick goes underneath the horse, not on top."
